Obituary of Deanna R. Marsh
Deanna R. Marsh, 82, of Fort Plain passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 7, 1940 to Robert A. Watkins and Geraldine L. Colegrove of Fort Plain.
A lifelong area resident Deanna attended local schools graduating from Fort Plain High School in 1958 before attending cosmetology school in Utica. She later opened her own salon: Cut & Curl which operated for a number of years. An active person, Deanna worked for several businesses over the years including Lifesavers, and later Arkell Hall where she was the Activities Director. Most recently Deanna worked as a Personal Assistant to Rusty Capece.
In her spare time, Deanna enjoyed volunteering her time to the community. A true Fort Plain native, and an active member of her beloved community she was a member of Friends of Fort Plain and a number of other local organizations. She volunteered to paint the annual holiday park decorations, cared for her property, The Watkins Block, and loved to garden. She was also a dedicated "fun grandmother" who loved to spoil her grandchildren. She attended every baseball, cross-country, and cheerleading event she could, and loved to listen to her granddaughter Emily play the piano. Deanna was a caring and loving person who would do anything for anyone.
Deanna is survived by her son Mark Marsh and his wife Donna Liddon Marsh, brother Robert "Archie" Watkins II, brother-in-law Paul Hillabush, as well as her grandchildren Tyler and Emily Marsh, and granddog Marley. She also leaves behind Brian Watkins, Randy Colgrove, and several other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her good friends include Jerry Peace, Barb Smith as well as her lunch group friends and many, many others.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Scholarship Association of Fort Plain PO Box 65, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lenz and Betz Funeral Home 69 Otsego St Canajoharie, NY 13317.
