DEANNE GITNER

GITNER--Deanne Gebell, former resident of Short Hills, NJ, Houston, TX, and Highland Beach, FL, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Monday, May 10, after a long illness. Born in Lyons, NY, in 1944, Deanne attended Lyons High School, and was the marching band drum major and class valedictorian. After graduating from Cornell University, she lived in Rochester, NY, where she met her husband, Gerry. They quickly fell in love and were together for 53 years. Deanne was fully devoted to raising her family, active in education, taught junior and high school English, worked for the Millburn, NJ schools, and served as a life member of the Cornell Council. She was also a journalist, writing and editing for a New Jersey newspaper, and gave much to charitable causes. Deanne loved traveling, visiting every state and 60 foreign countries. She valued family, and enjoyed talking about her children and watching her grandkids at the pool and the beach. Deanne is survived by her husband, Gerry, son Dan and spouse Meredith of New York, NY, and son Seth and spouse Angela of Manlius, NY, as well as her grandchildren Jake, 14, Sadye, 12, and Madelyn, 11.
