Obituary for Deborah Chantel Acker It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Deborah Chantel Acker, who left us on August 6, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on September 5, 1958, near Paris, France, and moved to the United States at a young age, where she began a life defined by love, compassion, and determination. Deborah had a zest for life and a heart that embraced adventure. She loved to travel, visiting destinations such as China, Maui, Paris, Lake
Tahoe, and many trips to her beloved Morro Bay.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of the ocean breeze, scenic drives, and exploring new places. A lifelong lover of film and television, Deborah delighted in classic movies, musicals, and countless reality shows. Her favorite films included The Wizard of Oz and Australia, and she treasured I Love Lucy for its humor and charm. Her love for music was just as deep, with favorites like Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and other pop icons
often playing in her home. Deborah dedicated more than 25 years of her career to the County of Kern as a substance abuse counselor, where she touched countless lives with her guidance, empathy, and unwavering commitment to helping others. In her younger years, she and her husband co-owned the Video Zones stores in Bakersfield, creating a welcoming space for the community's movie lovers.
She is survived by her son, Chad Acker, to whom she devoted her love, sacrifice, and unwavering support;
her daughter-in-law, Sherri Acker; and her extended family, the Klassens - Anna, Kellie, and Caden - all of whom she loved dearly. Deborah will be remembered for her generosity, her sharp sense of humor, her deep empathy, and her ability to make others feel seen and valued. Her love and dedication to her family and friends will remain an inspiration to all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery Northeast, 3700 River Blvd,
