Our beautiful Mother, Debbie Lee Hamby McDonald, left our loving arms and went home to our father's arms gaining her heavenly wings on February 3, 2025.

Debbie Lee Hamby was born April 12, 1957 in Sacramento, Ca to Ellis and Hattie Hamby. She was the baby of 5 siblings, Danny, Terry, Lynda and Judy. Her early years were rough, having to overcome obstacles she had no control over. She left California at 18 and went to her sister Judy’s house in Odessa, TX. There she met their friend Mike McDonald, and found the love of her life. They were married on November 20th, 1976 in Odessa, TX. A little over 4 years later they were blessed with their baby girl, Christi and then 6 years later they were again blessed with their baby boy Shawn. Their family was complete until her husband, Mike passed away on December 15,2002.

She was a homemaker, and always made her family her sole purpose in life. Being a mother was her dream and having a husband who worshiped the ground she walked on. She went to every school function, was room mom for some of our classes. She took care of us when we were sick, killed all the monsters under our beds, fought for us and loved us to no end. She always had an answer for all of our questions, laughed with us, and gave everything she had to make sure her children grew up to be honest, respectful and productive people.

After her husband’s passing she worked as a manager of A3 Storage on Kermit Hwy. She loved meeting new people and loved talking to them. She never met a stranger and finally retired in 2012 after it had been sold to Uhaul.

Outside of her husband and children, she was most proud to be Lynda and Judy's little sister. They spent every chance they could together. Spent hours on the phone or when they could get together around the kitchen table, talking so fast you had to dive in to get a word in. Their bond was undeniable and comforted her until she took her final breaths.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, husband, brother Terry Hamby and sister Judy Heasley, brothers in law Bobby Landers and Gerry Niswonger, sister in law Vicki Abney. As well as her Mother in Law, Joyce McDonald.

She is survived by her daughter Christi Drake and husband Brandon, her son Shawn McDonald, brother Danny Hamby of Gulfport, MS and Lynda Niswonger of Sonora, CA. Her nephews, Christopher Hamby and David Landers who were like sons to her and had a special bond with her. Brothers in Law Ed Heasley and Gary Abney and Sister in Law Vicky Landers. She had numerous generations of nieces and nephews that she also loved dearly
