Debbie Mistele Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 13, 2026.
Debbie L. Mistele (nee Teske), age 57, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Debbie was born on June 13, 1968, at Holy Family Hospital to Robert and Patricia Teske. She attended and graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1986 and went on to earn her degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire in 1990. On September 26, 1992, she married the love of her life, John Mistele, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Together they built a beautiful family and a life grounded in love, humility, and service to others.

Debbie loved her family deeply and always placed others before herself. Debbie devoted the past 16 years to teaching reading and math at Meadowview Elementary in Oconomowoc, where she poured her heart into helping children learn, grow, and discover their potential, changing countless lives along the way. Her passion for teaching reflected her true character: patient, generous, and endlessly giving. She was known for her genuine humility and her unwavering willingness to help others, always without expecting acknowledgment.

In her free time, she found joy in running, and many around Pewaukee Beach recognized her from the familiar routes she conquered. She loved cheering on the Badgers and the Packers with family and friends. Debbie was rarely without her sweet tea, a peanut butter cookie, or her daily Wordle, three things that always brightened her day. She surely appreciated all the simple things in life.

Debbie is survived by her husband, John; and their four children: Katelyn (Connor) Skelly, Jake (Claire) Mistele, Claire Mistele, Lauren Mistele. She is further survived by her mother, Patricia Teske, her brother, David (Tohnya) Teske, nephew and niece, Austin Teske and Paige Teske, mother-in-law, Anne Mistele, brother and sister-in-law Mike and Steph Mistele. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Teske, with whom she shared a deeply meaningful journey; her maternal grandparents, Alice and Edwin Zahn; and her paternal grandparents, E.G. and Gertrude Teske.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 1:45 PM for a visitation at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280N2101 Prospect Avenue, Pewaukee, Wisconsin. A Mass will follow at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will take place from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Smoke on the Water, N50W35016 Wisconsin Avenue, Okauchee Lake.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, a memorial fund has been established to build a special reading nook in Debbie's Honor at Meadowview Elementary School. Donations will be collected through GoFundMe or checks made payable to John Mistele.
