Bluffton, South Carolina - Diane DeZemler Mistele of Bluffton, SC passed away on November 17, 2023. She was 79 years old. Mrs. Mistele was born in Biloxi, MS on February 6, 1944 to the late Charles Matthews DeZemler and the late Madeleine Sturz DeZemler. Raised in Scarsdale, NY, she was a graduate of Scarsdale High School and Western Michigan University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Shortly after graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Charles Harold Mistele with whom she spent almost 58 wonderful years until his death in 2020.

Diane taught High School until she welcomed her first child. Once the children got older, she enjoyed interior design and started her own design firm, DMI Interiors, on Seabrook Island. Outside of family, one of her proudest accomplishments was appearing in Architectural Digest with the design of her dream house on Kiawah Island.

The loss of her beloved husband, Charles, three years ago was a profound setback, and it became evident that Diane missed him dearly every day. Despite the challenges that came with his absence and the isolation during COVID, she faced each day with strength and courage, embodying the enduring love they shared. Diane's legacy is one of love, unity, and the profound impact of a life well-lived.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped take care of her in her declining health including Huntley Tarleton (her son-in-law), Shelia Webb, Jaileah, Destiny, Patricia and many others.

She is survived by her three daughters and seven grandchildren: Michelle Long (Norris) of Chapin, SC, Hollis Condon (David) of Columbia, SC and Brittany Tarleton (Huntley) of Bluffton, SC; and 7 grandchildren: Madeleine, Amelia and Griffin Long of Chapin, SC; Erin Grace and John Connor Condon of Columbia, SC and Caldwell and Blythe Tarleton of Bluffton, SC; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC. Following the service, the family invites you to a reception at the South Carolina Yacht Club. Family will receive friends starting at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association or the Antique Classic Boat Society.
