Deborah Diane “Debbie” Pitts, 72 of Ripley, passed away November 20, 2025 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV, following an extended illness.
Debbie was born December 28,1952 in Parkersburg, WV, the first child of William Murl and Janice Marie Ross Pitts who preceded her in death. She was a 1970 graduate of Ripley High School and attended West Virginia University and West Virginia State College. She retired from the Jackson County Courthouse with 40 years of service in the Assessor’s Office and the 911 Center as a Dispatcher for Jackson County Emergency Services. Debbie served on the Jackson County Democratic Women’s Committee. She was a lover of old books and movies and collected many things. All kids knew they would be getting books from her at Christmas and Birthdays.
She is survived by sister, Beverly Pitts Hudson of Columbia, SC, brothers Jim (Leah) Pitts, Joe (Cathy) Pitts all of Ripley and sister Dreama (Greg) Pursley of Sandyville; sister-in-law Karen Kerns Pitts; brother-in-law Richie Painter; nieces and nephews, Regina Roush, Trindi Doughty, Amy Abshire, Erin Buchanan, Tyler Pitts, Kiley Brubaker, Jessica Walton, Julia Gump, Kelsey Henry and Joel Pitts. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Pitts Painter; brother Jonathon Pitts; brother-in-law Rod Hudson; nephew Erick Hudson; great nieces Katherine Marie Buchanan and Paiton Jackson.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Bradley Goodwin officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be from 2:00 pm until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
