Debbie Pryor Obituary

Debbie Lee Pryor was born May 2, 1955 in King City, CA, but lived in San Ardo most of her life. She died peacefully on January 30, 2026 with family and friends by her side.
She was a shy but studious student at San Ardo Elementary and then went on to King City High School. She skipped her high school graduation to marry the love of her life, Steven Pryor. They were married for 47 years until his death in 2020. Together, they worked hard to build multiple businesses and rental properties. She was extremely organized, driven and loyal. Debbie loved her animals. She had horses, goats, geese, ducks, pigs and countless other creatures. She was always busy and was a person of action and purpose. She loved and lived up to the line from Lonesome Dove (her favorite movie), "Never shirked a task." Although she had many tasks, being a mom was the most cherished by her.
In March of 2000, Debbie was in a horse accident that left her paralyzed and changed her life and her family's life forever. After months in hospitals and rehabilitation, with Steven continuously by her side, she eventually made it to a skilled nursing facility (Mission View Health Center) where she resided for 22 years. There, she became president of the resident council, volunteered with their Friends Helping Friends program, and loved bingo, trivia and word puzzles. Even from her wheelchair she was a force. She was the glue that held our family together. She was a loving wife and mother, always ready to console, counsel or defend all of us. A fighter until the end.
Debbie left behind her son, Keven (Naomi) Pryor; daughter, Kori (Mike) Balanzategui; and daughter Kati (Jason) Amos. Seven grandchildren: Kaleb, Kaden, Kaylee Pryor; Sierra, Ashlyn, Brooke Balanzategui; and Kessler Amos. Her sister, Susan (Doug) Buniger; and sister-in-law, Kelly (Hans) Wittstrom. In addition to many, many kids she brought into her home and her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Pryor; her parents, Leonard and Juanita Duckworth; and two sisters, Vickie Gularte and Cathy Moreno; as well as two granddaughters, Klorissa and Kelsi Amos.
Her family thanks Mission View Health Center in San Luis Obispo and their staff for everything they have done for Debbie and our family over the years.
