Debbie Jo Starkey, age 70, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. Born on September 29, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, Debbie was the beloved daughter of the late David and Joanne Shinn. Her life was filled with an abundance of love that she generously shared with those around her.
Debbie is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Dennis Starkey Sr., who stood by her side through life's many adventures. Together, they built a beautiful family, featuring their cherished children: Dennis Jr., Mandy, Joshua (Amanda), and Jason (Jennifer). The warmth of her love extends further through her grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, Hailey, Josh, Molly, and Guiliana, as well as her treasured great-granddaughter, Aubree. Each family member holds special memories of her kindness and laughter.
Beyond her immediate family, Debbie is remembered fondly by her siblings, Jim (Linda) Shinn, Pam (Tony) Rice, and Debbie (Mike) Medek. Debbie's heart was also intertwined with lifelong friendships, particularly her best friend, Jennifer Siddall. Her special dogs, Daisy Joy and Chip, brought her endless joy and companionship, reflecting her nurturing spirit.
Debbie had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. She found great fulfillment in her church community and had an immense love for children, always bringing a smile to their faces. Camping was one of her favorite pastimes; the great outdoors provided her with peace and happiness. However, above all, her greatest joy came from spending precious moments with her family, especially during holidays filled with love and laughter.
Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her spirit, kindness, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends alike. A celebration of her life gathering will take place from 5 to 7pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Newcomer SW Chapel. Additional calling hours will occur from 10am to 11am on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Cypress Church Powell Campus. A funeral service honoring her life will commence at 11 AM at Cypress Church Powell Campus, with a heartfelt luncheon to follow. Debbie will be laid to rest at Grove City Cemetery at 2 PM, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
