It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debora Theresa Demoruelle Hamilton, who left this world peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family, at the age of 70. Born on February 20, 1955, Debora lived a life filled with kindness, love, and the warmth that only a truly compassionate person can bring to others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church on Saturday, March 29, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Father Stephen Pellessier officiating.
Debora was a remarkable woman known for her unwavering faith and her ability to connect with everyone she encountered. She lived her life dedicated to others, always putting their needs before her own. She was the epitome of positivity, never speaking ill of others and radiating joy wherever she went. Her infectious smile and loving spirit deeply touched the lives of family and friends.
Debora's passions included spending time with her grandchildren, fishing in Cocodrie, camping in the backyard, and traveling the world with family, where she created lasting memories filled with adventure and love and she was sure to capture photos of everything. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures and always encouraged those around her to embrace happiness.
A devoted wife for 23 years, Debora found her soulmate in Kern Hamilton, and their love was a testament to what true companionship can be. She was a proud mother to her children, Daniel Morgan (Dorothy) of Scott, Holly Morgan Walker (TJ) of Lafayette, and embraced her stepchildren as if they were her own: Joshua Hamilton (Stephanie) of Lafayette, Jeremiah Hamilton (Amy) of Lafayette, Wendy Schmit (Dan) of Lafayette, and James Hamilton III of Seattle, WA. She took great joy in her grandchildren — Jonathan Lloyd, Max Morgan, James Hamilton IV, Emma Lloyd, Lauren Walker, Michael Walker, Thomas Walker, and Madeline Morgan. Debora will also be missed by her sisters, Nanette Bell, Libby Melancon, and Laura Launey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Demoruelle and Verna Guillory Demoruelle.
In honoring Debora's memory, visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM, with a rosary at 5 PM led by Deacon Ben. The following day, Saturday, March 29, visitation will continue from 9 AM until the time of service. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering in honor of Debora at Sip and Savor, the former Demoruelle Home after the Mass of Christian Burial.
Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed yet forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved.
