Debora Tanner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harris Funeral Home - Shelby on Dec. 12, 2025.
Debora Renee Tanner "Debbie" or "Deb" was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother during her 67 years of life. Debora passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 after a hard-fought battle against cancer. She was born August 23, 1958 to George and Jacqueline (Burns) Coulier in Sumpter, South Carolina.

Throughout her childhood, Debbie moved around with her family while her father served in the United States Air Force, settling in Michigan in 1970. In 1974, Debbie's family moved to Shelby where she met Fred and they eventually wed on October 11, 1985.
Debbie was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Some of Debbie's greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing card games with family, including Monopoly Deal, Phase 10 and Rummy, often showing no mercy. Debbie greatly enjoyed camping and spending long days on the beach, soaking up the sun and cooling off in the water when she got too hot. Deb also loved Dove chocolate, sweets and Diet Cherry Pepsi, almost as much as she loved her grandkids.

She is remembered by community members from her days working as a Supervisor at Wesco, bringing a smile to her customers' faces daily. Debbie loved working with the community and talking to everyone up until she retired from Wesco due to injury. Deb was loving, generous and cared for her family and friends beyond measure, willingly going without to ensure those she loved had everything that they needed.
Debora is survived by: her husband, Fred; children, Nicholas (Jennifer), Fred Jr. (Marissa) and Amanda (Wayne); grandchildren, Ravyn, Sebastian, Mecayden and Atticus; sisters, Sandie (Larry), Anne and Nancy; brother, George (Jennifer); several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.
Debora was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Jacqueline; step-parents, William and Beverly; sister, Mary; brother, Mark; nephews, Vicente, Alex and Michael; nieces, Holly, Lindsey and Bailey; several aunts and uncles.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has occurred and no services are scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date to honor her life.
