It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah Gail Barry Allen who departed from this world on October 9, 2025, at the age of 68 at Sunrise manor Nursing Home.
Born September 16, 1957, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Debbie faced many challenges in her life, yet despite her disabilities, she had the determination to get through each day, and she cared very deeply about her family and friends. She struggled all throughout her life with addiction, a battle that defined much of her journey, and affected her relationships deeply. While this struggle kept her from many joys in her life, her final days in recovery were spent at Sunrise Manor surrounded by loved ones who loved and supported her. She was able to have good clean fun with her sister who cared for her, daughter, and meet her great-grandchildren.
Debbie was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church.
Today we choose to remember Debbie for the lessons her life imparts about struggle, vulnerability, and the need for forgiveness and compassion. Her story, though not without its dark shadows, reminds us that every life, even one marked by pain is a testament of Gods work. May her memory prompt us to offer forgiveness where it is most needed and to cherish the bittersweet truths of our won journeys. Debbie was a cherished soul whose presence illuminated the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Proceeded in death by her parents Buddy and Mary Jo Barry, grandfather Everett Barry, and Grandmother Rebecca Patrick.
Survived by two children; John Mathew Despain and Rebecca Ann Despain. Two brothers: James Barry, Ron (Linda) Barry and her sister Kathie (Martin) Noel. Four grandchildren; Devin White, Andrew Toogood, Michelle Toogood, Lexie Despain. Four Great Grandchildren; Passion White, Luna Barry, Keon Barry, Alec Barry, Novah White, and her lifelong friend Aurther Jett.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 11, 2025, at Severns Valley Baptist Church beginning at 12pm with funeral service to follow at 2pm. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Debbie's life and share stories, as we honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Severns Valley Baptist Church Celebrate and Recovery Ministry.
Debbie may no longer walk among us, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace sweet Debbie. You will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
