KENDALLVILLE - Deborah Ann (Mertz) Beaty, 72, of Kendallville, Indiana, died on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the Emergency Room at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1952, in Kendallville, to Herbert and Doris (Emmons) Mertz.
She had attended St. John Lutheran School in Kendallville was a 1971 graduate of East Noble High School and a lifetime area resident.
Deb had worked in the cafeteria at East Noble High School and also as an Advanced EMT for Noble County EMS.
She had attended St. John Lutheran Church.
Deb enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching the birds from her window. She loved socializing with her friends and neighbors.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca A. (Diego) Beaty, of Interlachen, Florida, and Emily E. (Quentin) Sprengelmeyer, of Galena, Illinois; two grandchildren, Elliott Sprengelmeyer and Isla Sprengelmeyer; two sisters, Cathie Swartz, of Kendallville and Susan (Michael) Hively, of Battle Creek, Michigan; a brother, Ron Mertz, of Angola; her mother, Doris Mertz, of Angola; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Mertz in 1998; and her friend, Demaris L. "Dee" Powers in 2016.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 S. State St., Kendallville, with the Rev. Philip Rigdon, of St. John Lutheran Church officiating.
Visitation will also be on Friday, beginning at noon, until the time of the funeral services at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery near Corunna.
