DEBORAH A. BENEDICT (STEHLIN)
HOGANSBURG- Deborah A. Benedict, 69, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at St. John's Nursing Home in Rochester NY.
Deborah was born on December 28, 1955, in Suffolk, NY, daughter of the late Louis E. and Mary Ella (Francis) Stehlin. She went to many schools, graduated from GV High School, and attended St. Lawrence College in Cornwall, Ontario. She married Rudy Seymour of Cornwall Island, Ontario later ending in divorce. She then married James (Butter) Benedict of Cornwall Island, Ontario later ending in divorce.
She worked in Security Prevention/Loss for Walmart in Mesa, AZ, Security Guard for Mohawk Bingo Palace in Hogansburg, Associate for Levi's Factory in Cornwall, Associate for Jamesway Department Store in Massena and she took pride remodeling varies locations. Deborah also owned and operated small convenience store and a chip wagon located in Hogansburg.
Deborah enjoyed travelling, camping, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving and just about anything in and on the water. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. She had many dogs throughout her lifetime and enjoyed taking care of them all.
Deborah is survived by her son in law John Caskinette; chosen grandchildren Jessica and Jordan White, Tayler, Kyle and Marisa LaPage; her siblings Gary (Estrelita) Stehlin of Hogansburg; Wayne (Mary) Stehlin of Hogansburg; Donna Stehlin of Cornwall; and Dale Stehlin of Hogansburg; her nieces and nephews, Will (Venus) Stehlin, Caroline (Damon) Stehlin, Crystal (Cory) Stehlin, Richard Stehlin, Dwayne (Theirry) Lazore and Kane (Kayla) Montour; Mike (Tewasontahawitha) Folwer, JeanPaul Fowler, Dayton Thomas, Tony Thomas, and Chastity (Steven) Stehlin. Along with many other family members.
Deborah was predeceased by her parents Louis E. and Mary Ella (Francis) Stehlin; her two children Courtney Seymour "Iohserakohe" and Chase Seymour "Kahionhatakie"; chosen grandson Dustin Graves; and nephew Jacob. L. Stehlin.
