Biddeford

Deborah A. Brown (77) of Biddeford, Maine, died of heart failure on December 26, 2025 at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough Maine. She was born on February 11, 1948, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Needham (Hank) Ballou Brown Jr. and Loraine (Rainy) Stockbridge Brown.

Deborah attended both elementary and Jr. High school in Winchester, MA, and her summers were spent at the family cottage at Biddeford Pool, ME. She attended high school at Oak Grove School for Girls in Vassalboro, ME.

Deborah moved to New York to attend Syracuse University and graduated with the class of 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for the American Arbitration Association (AAA), first as a Tribunal Administrator and was rapidly promoted to Regional Director. She was responsible for the activities of the AAA in the 46 counties that are Upstate NY and the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and then retired as a Vice President.

Deborah was preceded in death by her brother, William (Billy) L. Plante Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, Dylan William Brown and Benjamin Mark Murphy, and her sister, Bette Lou Jewett.

She enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, body surfing, and gardening. She loved all dogs and was known for the many pug dogs that accompanied her throughout her lifetime.

Deborah thanks her niece Kelsea and her Hospice team: Carrie, David, Kate, and Stacey for all of their kindness and care.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services held. Deborah asks that you honor her memory with acts of kindness and generosity towards people, animals, plants, and Mother Earth.
