L. Daigle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cote Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2026.
Leo Paul S. Daigle

Old Orchard Beach

L. Paul S. Daigle, 91, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Paul was born on November 4, 1934, in New Canada, Maine, the son of Donat and Mariette (Asselin) Daigle. He was the youngest of his eight siblings and was the only son.

At eight years old, Paul and his family moved to Biddeford and was educated in local schools. He served his country in the United States Army in 1957 and after being discharged, he moved to Connecticut for work. For 34 years, he was employed by ACMAT as an acoustic installation specialist, or Acoustologist, as Paul referred to his profession.

While living in Connecticut, he would often visit Maine for various reasons. During one of these visits, he had a chance encounter with a young woman named Sandra Duranceau while driving his car. The pair hit it off and two years later got married on May 20, 1961. Together they spent 64 years married and raised their son, Richard.

Paul had many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and traveling. Paul and Sandy visited many destinations such as Italy, Switzerland, the Azores, and many states in America, including Hawaii.

Paul retired in 1996 and in 1998 Paul and Sandy moved back the Maine where Paul lived out the rest of days with his wife by his side. He will be forever grateful to those who helped him at the end of his life, especially those at Hospice of Southern Maine. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Paul was predeceased by his parents: Donat and Mariette Daigle, and his eight sisters: Anna Daigle, Rita Barrette, Jeanette Rodrigue, Theresa Clough, Rella Morin, Imelda Morneault, Irma Rooney, and Priscilla Hamel.

Paul is survived by his wife: Sandra Daigle, his son: Richard Daigle and wife Rosa, and his three grandchildren: Jean-Luc, Sabrina, and Celina.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco.
