Deborah Ann Crisp Coon (Debbie Crisp), 67, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born September 1st, 1955, in Charleston, SC to parents Arthur E. Crisp, Sr. and Elizabeth Weeks Crisp.

She studied to become a respiratory therapist at Roper Hospital. From there, she moved on to help build a business, a medical practice, and a family. Her final job was her favorite one. Debbie was in love with being a mom, and in love with her kids.

Loving, passionate, and strong-willed, she had a knack and a joy for taking care of people and standing up for them. Having never met a stranger, she made the people around her feel special, beloved, and understood. She had many "patients" and many "children." She would have embraced and protected the entire world if she could have.

She was a Lowcountry Girl through and through. She loved the outdoors, the beach, and any body of water she could find. She loved boating and water-skiing. Sun Sand Water and Waves! She loved an oyster roast and a good local band. She loved to dance. She loved to see people having fun. She had a somewhat secret talent...She was incredible at painting (acrylic on canvas)! With pieces ranging from an aerial beach scene with lots of tiny details (people, towels, crashing waves) to portraits of her friends, animals, and outdoor landscapes-she was incredible. She played piano, knit scarves, and cross-stitched.

She was a talented radiant spark of a person. Her smiling light still shines upon us warmth, giggles, tears, peace. Her spirit set free-now she really can embrace the entire world.

Deborah Ann Crisp Coon was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Arthur E Crisp Jr. She is survived by her older sister, Donna Crisp Sumner and her two children, Ashley and Christopher Coon.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
