Deborah Critton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery on Jan. 28, 2026.
Deborah Critton passed away peacefully on January 20th at her home in Orange Park, Florida. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was raised in Houston, Texas, where she graduated from Forestbrook High School in 1976.

In the late 1980s, Deborah moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she raised her three daughters and built a life centered on family, hard work, and love. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Prudential, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Deborah was respected for her strong work ethic, dependability, and long-standing commitment to her career.

Above all else, Deborah was a devoted mother and grandmother. She found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and cherished being an active part of their daily lives and activities, always present with love, care, and unwavering support. Her grandchildren will remember her for being strong and bold, a woman whose love and presence left a lasting impression on their lives. Family meant everything to Deborah, and her love for them was constant and unconditional.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Scott Sr. and Bernadine Robinson Scott and her sister, Brenda Scott.

Deborah is survived by her loving siblings: Floyd Scott Jr. (Cynthia Scott), Robert "Bobby" Scott, Michael Scott (Beverly Scott), Darrell Whitaker (Pam Whitaker), and Andre Whitaker (Lacy Chism Whitaker).

She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Lakisha Houghton (David Houghton), Katina Madyun (Aadil Madyun), and Whitney Graham (Tarvus Graham).

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: David "Darren" Houghton, Janaye Houghton, Joseph Houghton, Leiloni Madyun, Tionie Graham, Taniah Graham, Taleah Graham, and Wes Graham.

Deborah will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of strength, boldness, devotion, and family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
