Deborah Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 24, 2025.
Deborah Donna Deschwanden Davis (Debby), a beautiful soul whose love and presence made this world a better place, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband by her side on May 22, 2025 In Nipomo, CA. Born on June 13, 1948, in Bakersfield, CA to Patsy Grafton and Donald Deschwanden, Debby's life was one driven by her fierce loyalty and dedication to her family, as well as a heart for helping others.

Married to her high school sweetheart, Ronald Dee Davis (Ron), Debby cherished a remarkable 59-year partnership with the love of her life. Together, they raised four children with unwavering love and commitment, and their family expanded to include four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Their love story is a beautiful one; Ron knew the moment he met Debby that he wanted to marry her, and spent over 60 years loving her and working to give her everything she ever wanted, while she did the same for him. No matter where life took them, they leaned on one another and loved each other through it. Ron's care for Debby through her struggle with Alzheimer's was a testament to the resilience and strength of the love they had for one another.

Debby's life was one centered on compassion, always prioritizing other's needs above her own. No matter who you were, if she learned about something you needed or were struggling with, she was there to help you overcome that challenge and love you through it. Even as a young mother with little ones, her heart drove her to care for all of her elderly relatives, often bringing them into her home and making sure they were loved and well taken care of. She was our family's matriarch, our guiding force in making sure we spent time together and were there for one another. She was a living example of family always comes first, and was extremely generous with her time, love and anything she had to give. But it's important to note that this generosity went beyond her family and friends, and often to complete strangers. She would buy meals, groceries, and give what she could to anyone she saw in need, never expecting anything in return. Ron has shared that he has often been told how lucky he was-that she truly was a beautiful person, both inside and out.

Debby's encompassing love was accompanied by a creative, adventurous and fun-loving soul. Her artistic talent was inspiring, whether it was her oil painting, sewing, landscape design, or home decorating. She saw the beauty in everything and helped us see it too. She had a genuine love for music, all varieties but especially soulful music, and never passed up the opportunity to dance. Her sense of humor was simply the best...whether she was hiding to jump out and scare us, tricking us with an outrageous April Fool's joke, or simply being silly, she had a gift for making us all laugh. She loved a bargain, and was an avid TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Ross shopper, always looking for anything her family was needing or would like. She was the kind of Mom and Grandma (Gaga) that sat on the floor with us to play, sewed Barbie clothes for us when she didn't have the money to buy them, taught us our ABC's and how to draw, took us on walks on the beach to look for heart rocks and shells, and always found time to make every experience special.

Debby will be missed immensely by her family and loved ones, but the lessons she taught us and the impact she had on our lives will forever be cherished.

Debby was preceded in death by her son Brent Neil Davis in 2004, and is survived by her beloved husband Ron Davis, and the following family:

Daughters Lisa Gilbert and Patty (& Tony) Baker, and son Bradley Davis.

Grandchildren Megan (& Tony) Sanchez, Kearstyn (& Casey) Shaw, Kameron (& Jenna) Gilbert and Karson Gilbert

Great-grandchildren Stella Viesca, Olivia Viesca, Roxzen Shaw, Walker Gilbert, Lillian Sanchez, Asher Shaw, and Mila Gilbert.

Sister Bobbie (& Larry) Snow, brothers Joe (& Gracie) Williams, and John (& Julie) Williams, sister Pam Deshwanden, brother-in-law Donald (& Caryn) Davis, and close cousin Linda Walker, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved very much.

Graveside services will be held on June 3, 2025 at 9:00AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd.

Rest in peace Debby. You have built a loving foundation that will continue to bless your family for generations to come.

I so enjoyed hanging out in the pool at Lisa´s house after high school and her mom was always the funniest one there. Good times.
