Deborah “Debbie” Hamilton Evans, age 71, wife of James “Clevie” Evans, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born on January 13, 1955 in Clinton, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Marvin Marcell Hamilton and Dorothy Louise Heffner Hamilton. She was a former employee of the Laurens County Hospital and later retired for the Commission of Public Works in Laurens. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Joanna, loved her family and especially “spoiling” her grand babies.
Debbie is survived by her husband “Clevie” of 52 years, her sons, James “Bubba” Evans (Jackie) of Joanna, Kenneth Earl Hamilton of Clinton; her daughter, Krystal Williams of Joanna; her daughter at heart, Susan H Kelly (Raymond) of Mountville; her sister, Pam Gossett of Clinton; her five grandchildren, Kristopher Williams (Allye), Maggie Kneece (Colby), Destiney Dawkins, Kason Evans, Jack Evans; her two great-grandchildren, Zaylie Williams, Crimson Williams and one on the way; many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Marcell Hamilton.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Joanna, with Rev. Austin Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Debbie with memorials to the Laurens County Humane Society, 793 Poplar Street, Clinton SC 29325.
