Deborah Barlow Obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Deborah "Debi" Sue Barlow (née Wannepain), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at Boone County Hospital on September 21, 2025, at the age of 63. Born August 11, 1962, in Kirksville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Alfred (Al) and Marcella (Marcie) Wannepain. Debi spent her earliest childhood in Quincy, Illinois, and grew up in her Aunt Patty's dance studio from age 3 through adulthood, a formative place that reflected her lifelong love of movement, music, and community.
Debi attended Mary Immaculate Catholic School through eighth grade and Kirksville Public Schools through twelfth grade. She earned her LPN from Kirksville Vocational School and served the Kirksville area as a Licensed Practical Nurse at local healthcare facilities. On September 12, 1992, she married George Barlow. After marriage, Debi devoted her life to her family, Mary Immaculate School, and the wider Kirksville community, sharing her faith, kindness, and generosity with all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters Brenda Speaks (Anthony) and Jessica Meyers; son Kaleb Barlow; grandchildren Logan Wannepain, Joseph Berg, Kiley Speaks, Izabella Meyers, Adalyn Meyers, and Jackson Meyers; great-grandchildren Kai'Lynn Berg and Athena Berg; sister Lorrie Border (Michael) of Potosi; brother John Wannepain of University City, and brother Chris Lewis (Hillary) of Kirksville, MO. Debi was preceded in death by her husband George, her infant daughter Kathlyn (Katie) Barlow, her parents Alfred (Al) and Marcella (Marcie) Wannepain, and her beloved grandparents, and great grandparents.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Debi's life. Debi's funeral mass will be held October 11, 2025, at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, followed by a visitation dinner hosted by the Alter Society at Mary Immaculate at noon, friends are welcome to come share memories of Debi. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mary Immaculate Catholic Church or another charity meaningful to Debi's memory. Debi was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister; her warmth, faith, and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
