Deborah Doolittle Obituary
Deborah Ann Doolittle, 66, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.
A graveside service to honor Debbie’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 6 at Cannady Memorial Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Billy Knox. The family will receive friends following the service at the Newport Moose Lodge.
Debbie was born on August 13,1958, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, to the late Richard and Letha DiSantis. She made North Carolina her home in 1972. Debbie was educated at Sacred Heart Catholic School and later attended St. Pious High School before graduating from West Carteret High School. While pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse, she worked in the snack bar at Carteret General Hospital and earned her LPN license in college. Debbie had a passion for caring for others which led her to serve in Labor and Delivery, as well as at Harborview and Britthaven Nursing Homes. She retired from her nursing career on August 3, 2012.
A woman of deep faith, she was a cherished member of Community Baptist Church, and she loved her church family. Debbie found a fellowship also with her Newport Moose Lodge members. Debbie will be fondly remembered for her love of bingo cards, chatting with her grandbabies, relaxing outside watching her birds and squirrels, and always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, William Franklin Doolittle of the home; son, Timothy Edward Doolittle (Leslie) of Cape Carteret, NC, sisters, Geri Cheever (Jimmy) of Newport, NC, Rosa Stadick (Jim) of Little River, SC; sister-in-law, Lynda Bach; grandchildren, Haley Mae Fick, Hunter Doolittle, Kyleigh Doolittle, Richie Swanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her son, Edward Francis Swanson; brothers, Danny Elliott, Michael Phelps; and sister, Bridget Ann Joyce.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may to Community Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1119, Newport, NC.
