On February 26, 2026, Deborah (Debby) Malinda Gaubatz Dugger, 59, went home to join her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carol Gaubatz, her brother David Gaubatz, her sister Lynann Reynolds, her sister Sheree Hornot, and her nephew Christian Spraberry.

She is survived by her doting husband Clay, nephew John Spraberry (wife Heather Sclafani, children Anna Sclafani and Evangeline Spraberry), nephew Brent Swanson (wife Holly, children Alex, Elijah, and Everett), niece Amber Slaten (husband James, children Tyler Trichell and Addisen Slaten), and Grand-nephew Damian Spraberry, among various other wonderful loved ones.

She fought the monster known as cancer for over 10 years. When she was done with it, it knew it had been in a fight.

Debby was a woman of great Faith in her Lord and Savior, and wanted only that others would also come to know Him. Her Faith kept her happy for the entire struggle. Neither surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, nor stroke could wipe the smile from her face and heart.

We have elected for cremation, and there will not be a service or funeral.

I want to express my extreme gratitude to the following: Drs. Lisa Fichtel (Oncologist), Santiago Restrepo (Neurologist), and Rohan Coutinho (GP) and their staff for their unwavering care for Debby through this. Without them, life would have been much worse. My mother, who moved in to assist and was crucial to Debby’s care in the last days. My friends Ken Edestein and Rick Sweeten. They kept me grounded and did the most important thing: they listened. My boss, David. He has been very gracious and understanding. Mike and Beth. You have no idea how much your phone call and gifts meant to Debby. To the family and friends who were able to visit, thank you so much. You kept Debby from feeling left out or abandoned. For those too far away, or otherwise unable to visit, the cards and texts did not go unnoticed. They brought us both happiness and comfort. To the staff at Alamo Hospice. This is the second time you have helped me through this. The care you provide is awesome.
