Deborah Rogers Nicholson, age 66 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Friday, March 1, 2024. Deborah was born August 19, 1957 to the late Clifford and Alice (Davis) Rogers in Gainesville, Georgia. She was a lifelong learner, receiving her Specialists in Education. Her passion was teaching. She taught 35 years as an elementary school teacher in Towns County. She loved basketball and was the Towns County High School basketball scorebook keeper for over 30 years. Deborah was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed her time spent volunteering with the Hiawassee Garden Club; especially attending and judging flower shows. Above all else, she loved her family dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ollie Dee Nicholson; daughter, Misty Nicholson Kerr; brother, Bruce (Judy) Rogers; grandchildren, Carter Kerr, Cooper Kerr; Niece, Jennifer (Byron) Harper; Nephews, Greg (Lauren) Rogers, Jeff (Amanda) Rogers; great-nieces, Alli Harper, Reagan Rogers; great-nephews, Gage Rogers, Baylor Rogers, Hayden Harper.
Pallbearers: Greg Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Carter Kerr, Cooper Kerr, Baylor Rogers, Gage Rogers
Visitation: Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home
Funeral Service: Monday, March 4, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Lott officiating. Interment to follow at Macedonia cemetery.
Banister-Cooper is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Nicholson.
