Deborah S. (Way) Schroeder, age 73, of Chillicothe, passed away on September 30, 2025 at Lacon Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Deborah was born on August 10, 1952 in Springfield, IL to the late John W. and Christine (Dinora) Way. She married Dale E. Schroeder on April 13, 1979 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2007. He brother, Gregory Way, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sister-in-laws, Mary Schroeder of East Peoria, IL and Judy Way of Noblesville, IN; her nephews, Michael (April) Ciccarello of Virginia and Daniel (Jessica) Ciccarello of Ohio; her nieces, Jessica Ciccarello of Indiana and Adrienne (Terry) Sargent of Indiana; one great-nephew and four great-nieces; and many cousins.

Deborah was a Reading Aide at South Primary School in Chillicothe for 19 years, retiring in 2012. She loved working with children. Deborah was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan and attended many games. She also loved her special cats, Ella and Maggie.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Burial of ashes will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Box 45740, Baltimore, MD 21297-5740. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
