Deborah Earline Smith passed away October 22, 2024 at the age of 71. She was born June 26, 1953 in Selma, Alabama to the late Nubern and Doris "Dicey" Summerlin.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Carpenter, Clay Carpenter and Ray Carpenter.
Her vibrant spirit touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. For over 20 years, Deborah dedicated herself to Golden Ranch in Selma, where her skills as a waitress flourished, earning her the affection of both her colleagues and patrons. She had a unique way of lighting up the room with her sass and quick wit, endearing her to many while also ensuring that she got her way—a testament to her larger-than-life personality.
Retirement marked a new chapter for Deborah, one filled with cherished moments spent alongside her beloved husband. Each day, they could be found at Mr. Waffle, where the comforting aroma of coffee filled the air as they gathered with friends to share stories and laughter. Those days blended seamlessly into memories that would remain etched in the hearts of all present.
Beyond her esteemed career and delightful pastimes, including her love for baking cakes and pies and indulging in her favorite television shows, Deborah held her family close to her heart. She was deeply proud of her role as a mother and grandmother, always striving to instill a strong Christian foundation in her children and grandchildren. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on through their lives, carrying with them the values and love she nurtured within them.
