Deborah Lynn Sorrell, affectionately known as Debbie, was born on October 26, 1954, and passed away on November 11, 2025. She was well-known for her outgoing, caring ,and humorous personality. Having a passion for helping others, she not only dedicated herself to her profession but also spent her time volunteering and caring for animals, particularly those in need through Pug rescue.
Debbie had several positions during her career as a social worker. She sat on the board of Life Start, an agency that provided services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Her last job was with ARC Industry South where she retired from.
Debbie's educational journey began at Groveport High School, followed by her time at Capital University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Her commitment to her studies was matched only by her drive to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her.
With a particular fondness for her furry friends, she embraced her love for animals throughout her life. Additionally, she had an obsession with the television show "Supernatural," which brought her much joy over the years.
Debbie is survived by her beloved sister, Sandra (Miles) Duda, and another sister, Ruth E (Daniel) Spencer, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Her four-legged companions also continue to feel the absence of her loving presence.
She is preceded in death by her father, Herman Ray Sorrell, her mother, Esther Kathryn Sorrell, and sisters: Viola Bail, Wanda Manring, and Connie Myers. Her legacy of laughter, kindness, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on November 29, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Prior to the services, family and friends will gather to celebrate Debbie's life and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
