Deborah Stapleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Aug. 15, 2024.
Debbie Stapleton, 74 of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, July 23rd following a brief illness. She was born in Cortland, New York to the late Robert and Patsy Cordary.
Debbie was raised in St. Petersburg Beach, FL by Patsy and the late Bud Sieber (step-father). She grew up in a time when life was simpler. She and her friends loved to go crabbing off the seawall, ride their bicycles up and down Gulf Blvd., and play outside from dawn to dusk.
Debbie attended Sunshine Elementary School and then graduated from Lakewood High School. Debbie attended St. Petersburg Junior College and then followed her adventurous spirit and earned her stewardess wings. She flew for Northwest Orient Airlines with her home base being Minneapolis – St. Paul. After a few years she returned to St. Petersburg to settle down, married and raised a family.
Debbie loved anything to do with the outdoors, especially the beach. She was not afraid to try new things. She parasailed in the Bahamas and learned to dive in the frigid waters of Montauk, New York. She always wanted to skydive and probably would have if not for an injury that sidelined that dream.
Most of all, she loved her family with all her heart and would fight to defend them to the bitter end.
She is predeceased by her brother, Charlie Sieber.
Family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 29 years, Stan Stapleton; son, Joe Langford (Kim); daughter, Shannon Cloversettle (Jim); two grandsons, Riley and Dylan, a sister, Penny Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 24th at Blackrock Baptist Church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
