Billy Stapleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pyle Funeral Home - Johnston City on Jan. 15, 2026.
Billy J. Stapleton, 99, of Marion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, at 5:56 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Veterans Home in Anna.
Billy was born on November 1, 1926, in Marion, to Charles and Clella (Solomon) Stapleton. He married the love of his life, Jeannine Sandlin on August 2, 1947. They shared 75 years of marriage together, before she preceded him in death on September 19, 2022.
Billy was a graduate of Marion High School. Following graduation, he honorably answered the call to serve his county in the United States Army during World War II. During his military service, he worked in the Stars and Stripes division.
Billy had a deep love for woodworking and spent many years working in carpentry and finishing, crafting cabinets and furniture with great skill. His greatest love, however, was his wife, and he was a very devoted husband. In his younger years, he also enjoyed music and fishing. Billy was also a longtime member of the First Church of God in Marion.
Bill is survived by his children, Steve (Ginny) Stapleton of Kalamazoo, MI, Cindy Behrens of Newnan, GA, Susan (Mike) Patterson, of Marion, and Cara (Jeff) Wiseman of Newnan, GA; seven grandchildren, Eric (Tawnya) Stapleton, Sarah (Goran) Nik, John (Kim) Lewis, Matt (Libby) Lewis, Lindsay Behrens, Remi Patterson and Annie Patterson; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannine Stapleton; son, Randy Stapleton; and twelve brothers and sisters.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
