Deborah Kay Taylor, 74, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on July 25, 1951, Deborah was a lifelong resident of Topeka and cherished member of the community.
Deborah was a devoted wife to Michael Kent Taylor and a loving mother to Scott Michael Taylor (Juanita, Wife) and Katherine Beth Creighton (Rebel, Husband). Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, cherishing every moment with her grandchildren Madalyne Kent Taylor (Brandon, Fiancé), Matthew Kerry Taylor (Cera, Wife), Kiersten Alexa Creighton, Shane Michael Creighton, and Sara Marie Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Andrew and Katherine Lucile Gigous. Deborah's legacy of love and caring continues to live on through her family and all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, Deborah furthered her education at Washburn University and Emporia State University, where she earned her degrees in Nursing. She began her career as an LPN at Memorial Hospital in Topeka, later becoming an RN after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her career spanned several decades at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka State Hospital, and various nursing homes in Topeka, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients. Deborah's creativity was expressed through her many hobbies which included oil painting, scrapbooking, rug hooking, cross-stitching, embroidery, quilting, crocheting, watercolors, singing, photography, gardening, and canning. She relished the opportunity to cook and bake for her family, attend crafting events, and explore antique shops.
Details of the memorial service are yet to be determined, as it is important for all her grandchildren to be present to celebrate her wonderful life. Updates of a service for her will be posted in the future to her and other family members Facebook.
Deborah will be remembered as a caring and compassionate individual, whose warmth and creativity brought joy to many. Her spirit will be greatly missed.
