Debra Dazey Barwick, 61, of Mount Olive, went to her Heavenly home on the evening of September 11, 2024, at UNC Heath Wayne. She was surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly.
Debra attended East Carolina University and graduated from Wayne Community College. Her working career spanned over 37 years with Southern Bank and Trust Company where she was faithfully employed as Corporate Finance Administrator. Debra was a member of Northeast Original Free Will Baptist Church and served as church secretary. She also enjoyed attending the Celebrate Recovery services held weekly at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth R. "Ken" Barwick, Jr.; a daughter Tyler Barwick Montague and husband, Adam, of Goldsboro; a sister, Denise D. Vernon of Goldsboro; two brothers, Kenneth L. Dazey and wife, Beth, of Utah, and Marvin Timm Dazey, Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Florida; and her mother-in-law, Glenda S. Barwick of Mount Olive. Also surviving are dear friends, Sue Beaman and Gary Tew, along with Heather and Bradley Bradshaw and their children, Maysa and Deklin, Kristen Beaman and daughter, Collins Toler, and special friends, Brian Sweet and Caleb Whitley; beloved aunts who were instrumental in her up-bringing, her Southern Bank family, grand dogs Essie and Jack, and so many loved ones she touched along the way.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Timm Dazey and Faye Smith Dazey; a brother, Kevin Royce Dazey; and her father-in-law, Kenneth R. "Pep" Barwick.
Rev. Jeff Dail will officiate a service to remember the life of Debra at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, at Tyndall Funeral Home, with visitation to follow.
