Debbi Biffle, a loving wife, devoted mother, compassionate nurse, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of her Savior on July 27, 2025, at the age of 73.
Debbi was born on September 17, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Tom and Doris Gallagher. The family soon moved to Maple Shade, New Jersey, where her father worked in the shipyards as an engineer. At the age of 12, Debbi moved with her family to California, where her father transitioned to the aerospace industry as a Quality Control Engineer, contributing to projects such as the Apollo Space Program and the Challenger Mission.
From an early age, Debbi was drawn to care for others. She pursued nursing and spent most of her adult life as a NICU nurse, dedicated to the care of the most fragile lives. Her passion and skill were evident in every hospital she served, always earning the highest marks from her supervisors. Debbi often said her work in nursing was more of a ministry than a job. One of her most cherished honors was receiving a humanitarian commendation from President Nixon for her work caring for orphaned babies affected by the Vietnam War.
On August 28, 1977, Debbi made the most important decision of her life-she was baptized into Christ, a moment she treasured deeply. Her faith defined her life. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years and lived her faith with warmth, generosity, and grace.
Debbi paused her professional nursing career to raise her children and served as the school nurse at Orange County Christian School in Cypress, California, where her children attended. She later returned to hospital nursing, working at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, California, and later at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Debbi met and married Stephen Biffle at the Church of Christ in Cypress, California. Their love story spanned 39 years of marriage marked by deep friendship, laughter, and shared faith. Steve, a police officer with the City of Chino, and Debbi, a school nurse, built a life together centered on God, family, and service. Their home was always open to friends and guests, filled with kindness, love, and hospitality.
Debbi loved the outdoors-canoeing, traveling, and anything involving water were some of her favorite activities. She and Steve especially enjoyed being with their church family. Debbi was an avid reader, a wise encourager, and a steadfast presence to those in need.
Debbi and Steve are longtime members of the Alton Church of Christ in Alton, Missouri. Debbi was proceeded in death by her father, Thomas Gallagher and her mother, Doris Gallagher.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, Stephen Biffle; their six children: Kristin, Tim, Alison, Stephen, Jennifer, and Aimee; and 20 precious grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Debbi's life was a beautiful reflection of Christ's love-gentle, joyful, and unwavering. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
