Debra Ann Boddie, 72, passed Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at her home in Southaven, MS. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road, East, Southaven, MS 38672.) Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of arrangements.

Debra had a true love for travel and found joy in discovering new places and experiences. At home, she was happiest surrounded by nature-sitting quietly outdoors, tending to her garden, and watching hummingbirds flutter by. She was an avid reader and treasured peaceful moments with a good book. Above all, Debra cherished time spent with her family and shared a special bond with her two beloved dogs, who were constant companions and a great source of comfort and joy.

Professionally, Debra built a successful career as a government contract representative. She worked with respected companies including IBM, SAIC, and Lockheed Martin, earning the admiration of colleagues for her professionalism and dedication. She retired eight years ago, proud of the work she had accomplished over the years.

Debra was also deeply committed to her education. She earned both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree, achievements that reflected her determination and love of learning.

Debra will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her appreciation of life's simple pleasures, and the love she shared with those closest to her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Debra is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Latasha (Mario) Latney of Woodbridge, VA; her son, Eric Jermaine (Shaunquia) Boddie of Chesapeake, VA; her mother, Erma Jean Porter of Memphis, TN; her siblings, Linda Fay Porter, Sheryl Bernice (J.C.) Smith, Phyquita Lavett Porter, Tyrone Porter, Theresa Porter and Verlisa Porter, all of Memphis; her grandson, Jalyn Dometre (Simaah) Latney of Stafford, VA; her precious dogs, Sean and Marlon; many extended relatives, and countless friends.

Mrs. Boddie was preceded in death by her husband, Octavious Boddie, Jr., her sister, Evelyn Delois Porter, and her father, Percy Lee Porter.

To Ms. Porter, Faye, siblings and Dale's family; I will cherish the time Dale spent talking to Faye, Tomella, Sheryl and I about life and everything in-between. Dale was a beautiful soul inside and out. I remember when she went to work for the government in Washington, D.C., we told her when we graduate from high school that we were going to apply for a government job as well so that we could work with her. Dale, thanks for all the memories and advice. May flights of angels sing you to sweet rest, and your soul rest in peace.

Dale and I had been best friends since the seventh grade. In school you never saw us apart. We did everything together. Dale, you will truly be missed. Rest in peace until we meet again.
