Debra Anne Close

Debra Anne Close, 63, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Debra was born with a gentle heart and a steadfast devotion to the people she loved. A hard working mother for most of her life, she poured her entire spirit into raising her four daughters - her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

Her home was always a place of comfort and laughter, and unconditional love. In her spare time, Debra enjoyed the simple pleasures that made her happiest: spending time with her grandchildren, watching Court TV, and discovering new recipes to share on Facebook. She found joy in the everyday moments, especially when they involved her family.

Debra leaves behind a legacy of love through her children and grandchildren: - Nicole Close Horacek, daughter in law Amanda Horacek, and their sons Brayden and Jordan Close Horacek - Ashely Martin, son in law Ryan Martin, and their children Sophia and Ryan Jr. Martin - Samantha Guerra and her daughter Ysabella Guerra - Amanda Roehl and her daughter Aubriana Shell. She is also is also survived by her brother Phil Nelson; sisters Lisa Nelson, Susan Banks, and Lori Breedlove; and many extended family members who loved her deeply.

Debra was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Herrera, and her husband, Bruce Close.

One of Debra's final wishes was for her grandson Brayden to deliver a memorial speech at a later date, a testament to the special bond they shared. To help honor Debra's life and cover final expenses, the family has set up a GoFundMe page. They are deeply grateful for the love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time. Debra's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her - through her children, her grandchildren, and the countless moments of love she gave so freely, Rest in peace, Debra.
