Debra Day

Debra Day, 65, of Yakima, Washington, passed away on July 2nd, 2022 after a hard fought battle with gastric cancer. Debra (Debi) was born on October, 21st, 1956 to Philip Grunlose and Kay (Hutchings) Grunlose in Nespelem, Washington.
Debi was known for her beadwork and was a perfectionist when it came to her sewing projects. She would win blue ribbons for her "Best in Show" projects and enjoyed doing her sewing demonstrations at the fair. She had her Starbucks cup collection, and enjoyed watching Nascar and the Seattle Seahawks. Debi was adventurous, she loved the mountains, going hunting, picking berries, hiking, water skiing, and boating. She was knowledgeable on any given topic and could mechanic anything herself, she loved her car collection. Debi also loved to entertain and host family dinners as often as possible. When she wasn't at home spoiling her cat Lockett, she loved to take a road trip down to California. She loved all those that she worked with at the Yakama Nation Housing Authority, as well as all those that she met at bazaars and on the powwow trail selling beadwork.
She was a fighter and we take comfort in knowing Debi is now at peace. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Lin and the dedicated staff of Virgina Mason as well as her cousins who helped her with her fight, Dale Ebi and Mark Miller.
Debi is survived by her partner, Serge Perez, her nieces and nephews, Toshina Sam, Jaissa Grunlose, Kirstie Grunlose, Kaylynn Grunlose, Phillip Flett, & Brandon Goebel. She was also a second mother to Angie Day. Debi is also survived by her sisters, Dianna Grunlose & Cheryl Grunlose; brothers, Philip Grunlose & Greg Grunlose (and his wife Candace Grunlose) and mother, Kay Grunlose. Preceding her in death was her father, Phil Grunlose.
The dressing will be at the River Valley Funeral & Cremation in Okanogan, Washington on Wednesday, July 6th at 4pm. Following the body will be taken to the Omak Longhouse for the Rosary and overnight services. Thursday morning Mass is at 9am, burial in Kartar with dinner following at the Omak Longhouse.
