Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rochette Funeral Home & Cremation Services from Nov. 17 to Nov. 18, 2025.
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Ann (Camacho) Lambalot, 62, who left this world on October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her side, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Born on October 23, 1963, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, Debi was the daughter of Alice (Aubin) Camacho and the late John Camacho and was raised in Acushnet, MA. Graduating from New Bedford High School in 1981 and the Newport School of Nursing in 1986, she became an oncology certified Registered Nurse (RN / OCN). On August 17th, 1985, she married her childhood sweetheart and lifelong love, Thomas Lambalot, and they moved to
Nashua, NH, where they would raise a family of four.
While raising her four children, Debi was a fixture at Bicentennial Elementary School, where all her children attended. She was heavily involved at the school and was known as "the copy lady." She volunteered for many organizations and later in life would sit on the Board of Directors for the Nashua Education Foundation, whose mission was to raise resources to raise excellence in the Nashua School District.
As her children became more independent, she began to pursue personal passions. Debi began taking classes in Interior Design at the NH Institute of Art, where she met an inspiration, Ms. Phoebe Ann Neiswenter, and a handful of lifelong besties that she referred to as her "Design Divas."
Debi generously volunteered her time and design expertise to help renovate the Nashua PAL Community Center & Youth Safe Haven Building in
Nashua, NH through the Building On Hope organization. She collaborated with the community to secure donations for the facility and took great pride in helping create a welcoming, supportive space for those who rely on it.
Debi prioritized family and was the planner and the host for every major event that the family enjoyed. She loved decorating for every season and holiday, especially Christmas. When downsizing, there were a total of fourteen Christmas trees in the cellar, not including the live one we would get each year! She participated in the Nashua Holiday House tour, put on epic Halloween parties and the Lambalot home became the central meeting place for all of the children and their friends. She was a second Mom to many.
One of her joys was traveling throughout Europe, including a lifelong dream of visiting her ancestral homeland of Madeira with her family, a memory she cherished deeply.
Debi's passion was being a mother to her four children and a grandmother (GiGi) to her three grandchildren; they were the light of her life. She always found time to pursue her passion for gardening, cooking and entertaining. All of these special gifts were passed on to her children and her grandchildren. She spent every summer from the time she was born until her passing at the family summer cottage on West Island in Fairhaven, MA. If she was not on the beach, you could always find her tending to her flowers and vegetable garden. In her own words, West Island was her "happy place."
Debi had a smile that would light up a room, was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. She had a gift for making every space warmer, every gathering richer, and every person feeling deeply cared for. Her love, creativity and joy will live on in everyone that she touched.
Debi is survived by her husband, Thomas Lambalot of
Nashua, NH; son, Matthew Thomas John Lambalot; daughters, Lindsey O'Connor and her husband, Chad and their three children, Grayson, Madison and Emerson; Lauren Ackerman and her husband, Ryan; Hannah Kpamagen and her husband, Norris; Mother, Alice (Aubin) Camacho; and her sister, Danielle (Camacho) Cenci and her husband, Mark. She is predeceased by her father, John Camacho, and her brother, John Camacho, Jr.
Debi's family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the team of caregivers at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC for their compassion, kindness, and skilled care that were provided to Debi over the last five years. We would also like to thank the local Nashua Health and Hospice organization for their compassionate care at the end and Jacie in particular for making Debi's last birthday on October 23rd a very special one.
There will be a "celebration of life" held for Debi at the Century House in Acushnet, MA on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with hors d'oeuvres and time to reminisce with friends and family about a most extraordinary person. Their location is 107 S Main St, Acushnet, MA 02743.
