Debra Ann Orr, lovingly known as Debbie, passed away on April 12, 2025, in West Valley City, Utah, due to the effects of Alzheimer's disease. She was born on January 22, 1972, in Wichita, Kansas, to Duane and Guadalupe Orr.
Debbie is survived by her devoted mother, Lupe Orr, and her siblings: Duane David Orr (Helen), Dale Orr (Teri), Dianne Orr, Darla Hawks (Jim), Dean Orr (Debbie), DeLyn Garrison (Brent), Dayna Abraham (Michael), and Dawn Foutz (Jeff). She is also remembered with love by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Orr; her brother, Daniel Orr (Heather); and nephews Colin Abraham and Milo Myers.
Debbie was born with Down Syndrome as the eighth of ten children, Debbie was truly the light of her family and was incredibly loved by everyone she encountered. She always had a compliment ready-whether it was "I like your hair" or the wonderfully unexpected "you have nice shoulders." Her joy, warmth, and unconditional love touched all who knew her. A true fan of music, she especially adored boy bands like New Kids on the Block and One Direction, and was always ready to dance or sing along. She had a passion for movies and television, and in her younger years, amazed others with her sharp memory-able to recall many Miss America winners and their state by heart. Debbie had a unique gift for likening new acquaintances to movie stars, often with hilarious and unforgettable accuracy.
Her laughter was infectious, and her happiness was a constant in the lives of those around her. She graduated from Northwest High School in 1992 and gave back to her community through volunteer work at Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital. Alongside her parents, she also served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Augusta and Pratt, Kansas, as well as at the Oklahoma City Temple.
Following her diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's at the age of 40, Debbie's journey led her from Utah to Pennsylvania and back again, cared for lovingly by her siblings. She spent her final years surrounded by family who cherished her deeply.
Though we will miss her beyond words, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now free from the limitations of her physical body and mind, and at peace in the next chapter of her eternal journey. Her legacy of love, laughter, and light lives on in each of us.
