Debra Jean Reeves

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra J. Reeves, who left us peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on November 26, 1957, in Vincennes she is the daughter of John O. and Billie Jean (Deisher) Hatton.

A proud graduate of South Knox High School and Indiana State University, Debra was a dedicated lifelong learner. She had a profound appreciation for history and enjoyed delving into a wide array of subjects, often found immersed in books that broadened her understanding of the world.

Debra was a cherished member of the Bruceville Christian Church, where she found a sense of belonging and purpose. Her faith was further nurtured through her active participation in Bible study at Thursday Church, where she formed lasting relationships with her fellow members. 

A passionate animal lover, Debra had a special affinity for cats, showcasing her gentle nature and nurturing heart. She also enjoyed a wide variety of music. From playing in the band in school to relaxing listening to her favorite CD's, she found music to be calming. 

Debra is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Reeves of Tuscon, AZ; her brothers, Doug Hatton and his wife Kim and David Hatton both of Vincennes; as well as her niece, Heather Gough and Her husband Neal and nephews, Justin, Dustin and Nathan Hatton. Debra is preceded in death by her parents, John O. and Billie Jean Hatton, and her sister-in-law, Angie Hatton. 

A graveside service will be held in her honor at Royal Oak Cemetery on January 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to pay their final respects and commemorate a life well-lived. Pastor Debbie Salters will officiate and following the service, Debra will be laid to rest, allowing her spirit to continue its journey in peace.
