Debra Risius Obituary
Debra was born February 25, 1955, in Des Moines, IA, daughter of Verle Dean and Loretta Mae (Whitten) Simmer. She attended school in Madrid where she graduated from high school in 1973. She continued her education at DMACC in Des Moines where she obtained her LPN degree in nursing. Debra worked at Urbandale Health Care Center, Granger Manor and later the Kavanaugh Hospice on 56th Street in Des Moines.
Debra enjoyed crocheting, craft projects, morning drives with her son and listening to the radio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Brandi Wylie-Tully and a brother David Simmer.
Debra is survived by a son Charles (Melanie) Wylie, a daughter Nichole Risius, a son-in-law Greg Tully, seven grandchildren Andrea Risius, Abigail Risius, Gage Wylie-Tully, Jaden Wylie-Tully, Davioinna Davis, Dreden Davis and Draelynn Davis, three brothers, Richard, Robert and RD Simmer, three sisters, Pam Grail, Sheri Simmer and Theresa Price as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid. Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Madrid.
