Coleen Risius, 93, of Iowa Falls, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Hansen Family Hospital. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. She will be laid to rest following the service with a graveside inurnment at the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Coleen and her family.
Coleen May Risius was born on February 10, 1931 to Curtis G. and Thelma E. (Frye) Weir in Dows, Iowa. Coleen attended elementary school in Bradford, Iowa. She graduated from Hampton High School.
On February 20, 1954 Coleen was united in marriage to William W. Risius.
Coleen worked as a secretary for Farmers Hybrid, she was an assistant director for many years at the Iowa Falls Day Care Center. She also worked at the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Ackley and Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls as a dietary aide and in housekeeping, retiring at age 80.
Coleen enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and friends, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting and the peacefulness of watching birds and wildlife in her backyard. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Coleen had a strong faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.
Those left to cherish the memory of Coleen are her children, Jeff (Michele) Risius of Kissee Mills, Missouri, Julie (Larry) McColloch of Austin, Minnesota, Marlyn (Michelle) Risius of Mankato, Minnesota, Merlyn Risius of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Judy (Mark) Norman of Bradford, Iowa, Jerry (Angie) Risius of Ackley, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, plus one due in April and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Risius; parents, Curtis and Thelma Weir; sister and brother in-law, Wilma and Dwight Oleson; and grandson Jared Risius.
