Debra Stephens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips Funeral Service on Dec. 22, 2025.
Debra "Debbie" Lynn Stephens, 69, of Ada, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1956 in Monte Vista Colorado to her parents John Dean Jones and Fay Rean (Goddard) Jones. She attended school at Vanoss High School and graduated in 1972. She later attended vocational school and went on to be a Director of Records Management at the Chickasaw Nation for forty-two years.
Debbie was the most loving, kind, compassionate, and hardworking woman. An avid reader, she could finish a book faster than you could hand her the next. She was a devoted fan of the OU Sooners and cheered them on as if she were their biggest fan. She loved country music, especially George Strait, and often reminisced about her younger years spent dancing the night away with friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor, delighting in a good prank or joke, and she was known for her big, joyful belly laughs. She took great pride in her home, thoughtfully decorating and creating a warm, welcoming space where everyone who entered felt like family. She raised her greatest joy in her life, her only son Courtney, with grace and dignity and touched countless lives with her contagious spirit and loving heart. Her greatest professional accomplishment was working her way up to Director of Record Management for the Chickasaw Nation, where she served with dedication and excellence for forty-two years. She retired with multiple awards in recognition of her distinguished career. Debbie left a huge impact on each and every person who was blessed to have met her, and she will be dearly missed.
Debbie is preceded in death by her mother Faye Jones, her father John Jones, her brother Glenn Jones, her sister Linda "Sissy" Jones, and her brother "Little" Johnny Jones.
Debbie is survived by her loving son, Courtney, her daughter at heart Janessa, her brother Melvin and his wife Lynn, her niece Amanda, her great nieces Cadence, Melody, and Cambria, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished family members and friends.
Honorary Pallbearer: Melvin Jones
Pallbearers: Courtney Compean, Jake Johnson, and Dakotta Dew.
