Debra Tatum, 65, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Debra was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years, primarily with AIG, American General, and Delta Life Insurance Company. An avid supporter of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Debra loved following college football. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, gardening, and visiting her son, Andrew, and his family in New Orleans. Debra especially cherished the moments she spent with her grandson, Charles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wood, and her husband of 34 years, Douglas Tatum.
Debra is survived by her beloved mother, Laura Wood; her cherished son, Andrew Tatum, his wife, Emily, and son, Charles, of New Orleans, LA; and her two brothers, Tommy Wood and his wife, Michelle, and Jeffrey Wood and his wife, Dee, all of Athens, GA; and her niece and nephews, Brandy, Brandon, and Josh.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home (East) on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 1-3 PM, with a funeral service to follow. Debra will be laid to rest at Athens Memory Gardens.
