Debra Short Varble

Debra Short Varble, 69, born April 20, 1956, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late William and Anna Short, passed on August 4, 2025. Debra was an active church member all her life. She sang in the church choir at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and Boone's Creek Baptist Church, and served as a pianist at the latter. She was also part of a Praise Team, a Sunday School Teacher, and an Awana Sparks Director. Outside of the church, Debra was a Henry Clay High School Band Booster and worked in Upward Concessions. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bill Varble; her children Anthony Varble (Lois), Savannah Lange (Ryan), and Valerie Kilgore (Mitchell); her grandchildren Kari Varble, Lana Varble, Erin Varble, Nash Varble, Matilda Lange, Juliette Lange, and Sterling Kilgore; and her siblings Ann Lynn Howell (Leonard) and Bill Short (Mary Jane). Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Boone's Creek Baptist Church and again from 1-2pm Friday, August 8, 2025, with a service to begin at 2pm. Burial will follow at Athens Christian Church Cemetery.
