Kenneth Cochran Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main St. on Mar. 5, 2026.
Kenneth Ray Cochran, 89, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026.

Kenneth was born on August 17, 1936. He lived a long and meaningful life devoted to his family, his work, and the simple joys of nature.

He was the beloved husband of Ruth Ann Scanlon Cochran, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and lasting memories.

Kenneth worked as an inspector at IBM for 32 years. In addition to his work there, he worked as a Realtor, serving his community with dedication and integrity.

To his grandchildren, Kenneth was lovingly known as "Poppy" or "Ppaw." He treasured time spent with family and found great happiness in the outdoors. He could often be found tending his butterfly garden, bird watching, or fishing on Lake Okeechobee, one of his favorite places.

Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth Scanlon Cochran; his daughters, Yolanda Spedding and Debbie (Tony) Ortiz; his grandchildren, Ashley Spedding, Emily Spedding, Arthur Davidson; and his sister, Joyce Deel and multiple nieces and nephews who will also cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Dunaway; his father, Edward Cochran; his stepfather, Rosco Dunaway; his brother, William Jay Dunaway; his stepsister, Bonnie M. Caudill.

Kenneth will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, love of nature, and deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family who loved him dearly.
