Debra Wells Obituary

Debra A. Wells

April 28, 1960 - November 2, 2025

PORT RICHEY, FL – Debra A. "Debbie" (Donohue) Wells, 65, a longtime resident of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Port Richey, Fla., on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Debbie was born on April 28, 1960, in Glens Falls, and was the daughter of the late Nancy (Phillips) Donohue. She graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1978. After high school, Debbie attended SUNY Delhi for a short period before returning to the area. Upon her return, she attended BOCES and earned her degree as a licensed practical nurse.

She was a dedicated LPN working on the cancer unit at Glens Falls Hospital for numerous years. She also worked for Continuous Care and the Hudson Falls School District as an LPN.

Debbie married Scott R. Wells in 2003, and they were together until his passing in 2018.

She was an active parishioner of the Maplewood Parkway Methodist Church in South Glens Falls for many years. When she needed guidance, Rev. Penny was always there for her.

Debbie was outgoing and never let her health deter her from doing things she wanted to do. She loved playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, and she enjoyed taking Caribbean cruises with her friends. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished each and every one of them.

In addition to her mother, Debbie is predeceased by her husband, Scott R. Wells.

Survivors include her children, Nathan (Katherine) Hicks, Timothy (Amber) Hicks, Abigail Wells, and Brian Wells; her grandchildren, Jacob, Connor, and Nolan Hicks, Jesse Gangelhoff, and Evelyn Wells; her brother, Michael (Lynn) Donohue; her sisters, Kathy (Michael) Durkee, and Lisa (Tom) Henderson; her mother-in-law, Ruth Wells; sister-in-law, Lori (Art) Lockhart; aunts and uncles, Mary (Doug) Greene, Patrick (Mary) Phillips, and Carol Yager, and several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Debbie is also survived by her long-time dear friend, JoAnn Hayes, and her beloved dog, Rocky.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Maplewood Parkway Methodist Church located at 15 Maplewood Parkway in South Glens Falls.

The Nurses Honor Guard will be honoring Debbie's years of dedicated service to her profession at 12:45 p.m.

A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following the Nurses Honor Guard Ceremony, with the Rev. Penny Brink, officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at Union Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.

Debbie's family would like to thank JoAnn Hayes for the love, care, and compassion she gave to Debbie through the years. They are eternally thankful for all she did.

Memorial donations may be made in Debbie's name to the Lupus Foundation of America at www.lupus.org.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home in Hudson Falls. Online remembrances may be made by visiting www.carletonfh.net.
