Dora Lea Bock "Dee", longtime resident of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2024. Dee was born in Knapp, WV to Cecil and Bertha Whitesel.
She graduated from high school and went on to college in Glenville, WV where she met her husband, Frank. They were married on August 21, 1948 and had four children. They moved to Maumee in 1954. Frank was a psychologist, and Dee was a clerk librarian for Maumee city schools. She retired in 1999. Dee then joined the Maumee Senior Center and enrolled in Art Club where she took up oil painting. She became very professional in her artwork; displaying many of her paintings in and around the area and beyond. She continued her art career for over 20 years.
Her greatest job was being a mom and a grandma. She loved to cook, work in the yard, travel, talk with neighbors and long walks.
Dee will be truly missed by her sister, Betty Cross; sister-in-law Vera Whitesel;
children, Michael (Ronda) Bock, Melinda (David) Smith; daughter-in-law, Mary Bock; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bridget and Megan Bock, Ashley Smith, Michelle (Ryan) Holley; granddaughter-in-law, Erin Smith and numerous great grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Frank; brother, Charles Whitesel; sons, George and Charles Bock; grandsons Gaven and Casey Smith.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, December 5th from 4 to 7 pm at Maison-Dardenne- Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee, OH. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 Broadway St, Maumee, OH. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in thanks to Hospice of NW Ohio for their care and compassion.
