Dee Roy Crowell
1944 ~ 2025
Dee Roy Crowell, 81, of Tehachapi, California, passed away on August 21, 2025, in his hometown. Born on May 2, 1944, Dee Roy spent his entire life rooted in the community he loved so dearly.
Dee Roy devoted over three decades of his professional life to the Monolith Cement Plant, where he worked as a layout welder, he also served as a union representative. After spending several years in Oklahoma raising cattle, Dee Roy returned to California and continued his career at CalPortland Cement for another 10 years before retiring.
Dee Roy was a devoted family man who found great happiness in spending time with those closest to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis Crowell; daughter Kristina Hughey, her husband Michael Hughey; son Todd Crowell; grandchildren Garrett Crowell, Stevie Hughey, Alex Hughey, her husband Jeremy Core and great-grandson Silas Hughey-Core. He also leaves behind siblings Dickie Crowell, Sue Hill, and Darlene Kindell; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews-and many dear friends who were like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Margurette Crowell, and siblings Virginia Alex and Miriam Faulkner.
The outpouring of love and support following Dee Roy's passing has been an incredible comfort to his family during this unimaginable loss. His legacy lives on not only through those who knew him but also through the countless lives he touched with his friendship and generosity.
May the memory of Dee Roy bring peace to all who knew him and continue to inspire kindness within the community he so deeply loved.
