Dee Wheeler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home on Mar. 18, 2026.
PAUL – Dee Ray Wheeler, an 81-year-old resident of Paul, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley.
Dee was born July 10, 1944, in Shelley, Idaho, the son of Mearl Wheeler and Alice Marie Taylor Wheeler. He joined his older siblings, Janice and Larry, and was later joined by his sister, Mearlene. As a child, Dee lived in Shelley, Arco, and Othello, Washington, before the family eventually settled in Paul, Idaho.
After graduating from Minico High School, Dee met the love of his life, Linda Green, while she was working at Lola's Bar and Grill. They were married on July 11, 1964, in Rupert, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1966. Dee and Linda spent their entire married life in the Paul area, building a home and family together.
Dee was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. These included counselor in the bishopric, bishop, branch president, numerous Young Men and Scout leadership positions, and several roles working with young adults. Dee and Linda also served a mission together in Cleveland, Ohio, working with the young adults in Akron from September 2010 to February 2012.
He was active in his community and gave generously of his time. Dee served with the West End Fire Department, the Mini-Cassia Search and Rescue, and served many years at the Minidoka County Fair.
Dee was a builder by trade-and by nature. In 1975, he and his father started Northside Welding. He had a gift for building and fixing nearly anything and especially enjoyed working with his many customers, who often became lifelong friends. Dee had countless hobbies, most of which involved the outdoors. He worked hard, played hard, and always found joy in serving others.
Dee is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Tammy (Scott) Stevenson, Todd (Jeanette) Wheeler, Toby (Kim) Wheeler, and Tara (Jason) Egbert; his sister, Janice Barnes; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Leland and Thelma Green; his brother, Larry Wheeler; his sister, Mearlene Ashby; and his grandson, Kenny Stevenson.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Graham and the staff at Cassia Regional Medical Center, Parke View Rehab and IHC Hospice for their compassionate care that made Dee's final days comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, please do an act of service for a friend or make a donation to your favorite charity.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Paul Stake Center, located at 424 W. Ellis St., in Paul, with Bishop David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Paul Cemetery.
