Delano Clair Carpenter, born January 30, 1934 in Minneapolis Minnesota was a resident of Milaca Minnesota who went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of November 3, 2025. His passing was very peaceful.
Del, as he was affectionately known by all and Grandpa Del by his many nephews, nieces, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (and even friends’ children and grandchildren), will be sorely missed by his family, his wife Joan Carpenter and her family, and many more who were touched by him. He leaves behind best and lifelong friends Delane Jones and Jim Christianson.
Del is survived by his wife Joan, siblings Carrol (Clyde) Anderson, Dwight (Lois) Carpenter, Dean (Annette) Carpenter, Carin (Steve) Calander, and his many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Del was preceded in death by his parents Adonna and Clair Carpenter and brother Dale Carpenter.
After returning home from active duty in Korea where he was a Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Crewman in the 2nd Battalion, 19th Field Artillery, serving our country from 1956 to 1958, he settled in his community of Bethel where he started a trucking business. He went on to marry Joan Rose Chevalier in their later years and became a father figure for her five children and subsequent grandchildren and even great grandchildren. He was happy to rock a baby to sleep or play with toddlers in the yard. He was a wonderful counselor to all and a steady husband and friend.
Delano spent most of his life in a shop turning wrenches to restore vehicles and tractors, and was a fixture at all the local auctions, well liked and respected by his community. He loved the Lord Jesus and was content knowing he was promised heaven when he gave his heart to Jesus.
