Delbert Lee "Dinky" Adkins, 61 of Henlawson, WV departed this life Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at his residence.
He was born May 23, 1963 in Logan, WV to the late Darwin and Carol Adkins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sons, Christopher Lee Adkins and Delbert Lee "D-Lee" Adkins II; and his great-nephew, Tracy Dale Evans.
Dinky loved spending time on the "holler". He enjoyed playing horse shoes and volleyball, riding his side by side in the mountains, eating his mother's cooking, and most of all spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Tammy (Newsome) Adkins; children, Chris (Betty) Newsome, Ashlee Garretson (Justin Jones), Gregory Nagy, and his fur baby, Precious; grandchildren, Nathaniel Adkins, Ryder McCoy, Jensen McCoy. Lane Newsome, Juslee Jones, and Christopher Newsome; siblings, Donnie (Brenda) Adkins of Cocoa, FL, Amanda (Woody) Hicks of Mineral Wells, WV, Tom (Jeanette) Adkins of Omar, WV, Wanda (Ronnie) Conley of Henlawson, WV, Tracy (Drema) Adkins of Henlawson, WV, and Juanita (Thomas) Adair of Henlawson, WV, mother-in-law, Brenda Lockhart of Chapmanville,WV; father-in-law, Roy (Gwen) Newsome of Dandridge, TN; brother-in-law, Roy (Alisha) Newsome of Pecks Mill, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Akers-James Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Adkins officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Honoring Dinky's wishes his remains will be cremated following the services.
Honorary pallbearers will be PJ Fillinger, Harley (Kim) Scott, Tommy (Tammy) Wiley, Chuck Phipps, Brian Michael Phipps (Sarah Robinson), Tweets (Renee) Garretson, Dino (Jennifer) Garretson, and Gary Moore.
